当地时间17日，伊斯兰抵抗运动（哈马斯）高级官员马哈茂德·马尔达维在半岛电视台发表声明，称哈马斯拒绝巴勒斯坦权力机构主席马哈茂德·阿巴斯关于将抵抗武器移交给巴勒斯坦权力机构的呼吁，并强调只要以色列继续占领巴勒斯坦土地，哈马斯就坚持抵抗的选择。马尔达维表示：“（使用）武器是抵抗占领并面临日常屠杀的人民的合法权利。” 　　马尔达维强调，哈马斯不认为交付武器是一种解决办法，而是忽视了民族权利，放弃了保卫巴勒斯坦人民的责任。 　　阿巴斯17日在伊拉克首都巴格达举行的第34届阿拉伯联盟峰会上呼吁，哈马斯“放弃对加沙地带的控制，并将武器移交给巴勒斯坦权力机构”，并强调需要“根据专业理由并在阿拉伯国家和国际社会监督下重组加沙的安全服务”。 　　阿巴斯强调，“巴勒斯坦解放组织是巴勒斯坦人民合法和唯一的代表。”他还指出，由于约旦河西岸和加沙地带被占领，巴勒斯坦面临“生存风险”。 （文章来源：央视新闻）
